Use Journal to record interactions with important contacts, to record Outlook items (such as e-mail messages) or files that are significant to you, and to record activities of all types.

You can set options to automatically record Office files you create and Outlook items for selected contacts. You can also manually record any activity in Journal.  For example, use Journal to track the length of a phone call and store the notes you write while you talk.

To automatically record files you create and items for selected contacts, click Options on the Tools menu, and then click the Journal tab. Select the options you want.

To manually record any activity in Journal, point to New on the File menu, and then click Journal Entry. Type an entry name in the Subject box, and then select the options you want.  To save the journal entry, click Save and Close.

For more information about working with journal entries in Outlook, press the F1 key, type your question in the Office Assistant, and then click Search.
